Judy was the youngest of three children and grew up on the family farm outside of Conway. She graduated from McPherson High School in 1957. Judy attended Brown Mackie College, Salina, where she met her sweetheart, Harold Cooley. Judy and Harold were married in 1958. They made their home in Salina, where they raised two daughters, Julie and Sheri.
Judy worked for USD 305 Central Kansas Cooperative in Education for more than 30 years. She also enjoyed farming with her husband and family. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, where she and Harold taught Sunday School for many years. In 1993, Harold and Judy moved to the Cooley family homestead in Kipp later moving back into Salina in 2007.
Judy was a stroke survivor and fought hard for 17 years to live her life while maintaining her dignity.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold; and brother, George Cramsey.
Survivors included her daughters, Julie Hiett and Sheri Cooley; a sister, Anita Rothfuss; sister-in-law, Marylou Cramsey; grandchildren, Heather Barker, Lindsay Ceballos, Bethany Smith and Levi Carlson; great-grandchildren, Abigail and David Ceballos, Grace and Caleb Barker.
