August 2, 1947 - July 15, 2015

Gary Woodard, 67, departed this world on July 15, 2015 to be in the presence of the One he loved during his lifetime. Answering the call to preach at the age of sixteen, Gary remained faithful to this calling, serving in ministry all of his life. Gary was the pastor of South Lakewood Baptist Church at the time of his passing, where he had developed deep and loving relationships over the 34 years that he was their shepherd. Gary loved his God, family and church – they were his life. His gift was that of encouragement, which was evident to all he came in contact with. He cared deeply for people, desiring that they would know the peace and joy of knowing the Savior he knew. His warm sense of humor and ability to connect with people was used greatly. His family will greatly miss the enormous gift of his life as the best husband, father and "Poppy" that could be asked for. Gary was preceded in death by his mother (Ethel), father (Glen), first wife (Mary Jo) and two brothers Delmar and Jim. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife Susan, son Lee and Sheri, daughter Stephanie and Doug, sisters Jackie, Cathy, Virginia and Judy, brothers Jack and Kenny, special "angels" Savannah, Molly, Grady, Emma, Prestyn and Hayden, nieces and nephews and his South Lakewood family.
Family will receive friends from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM Friday, July 17, at Moore's Eastlawn Chapel.
A Celebration Service will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, July 18, 2015 at South Lakewood Baptist Church. Memorial gifts may be made to South Lakewood Baptist Church. Services entrusted to Moore's Eastlawn Chapel. 918-622-1155
