GEORGETOWN - Joan M. Venable, of Georgetown, died Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012, at Emeritus Senior Living formerly Green Meadows of Dover. She was 74. Joan was born Aug. 16, 1937, in Seaford to the late Charles E. Dean Sr. and Edna Green Dean. She retired from the Stockley Center in Georgetown. Joan loved to watch Mike Huckabee and the Baltimore Orioles on television. She was a member of McColley's Chapel in Georgetown. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Brian Venable; four brothers, William (Bill), George H., Ralph V. and Ronald L. Dean; and one sister Laura Lynch. She is survived by her husband, Harold Venable Sr.; a daughter, Wanda J. Venable of Felton; a son, Harold Venable II of Georgetown; four sisters, Barbara Hooper of Hebron, Md., Alice Bennett and Rosalie Hignutt of Georgetown, and Irene Venable of Greenwood; four brothers, Charles E. Dean Jr. of Seaford, Roland E. Dean of Bridgeville, Dennis E., and Raymond Dean of Farmington.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012, at Fleischauer Funeral Home, 16 West Market Street, Greenwood. Friends may call one hour prior to funeral. Interment will be held at McColley's Chapel in Georgetown.
