Lonnie B. "Buck" Dowd Jr.
GASTON - Lonnie B. "Buck" Dowd, Jr., 62, of Gaston, died Saturday, October 29, 2005.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, November 1, 2005, at Faith Baptist Church in Swansea with Rev. David Carter officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Baptist Tabernacle Cemetery in Sandy Run. The casket will be placed in the church at 1 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Lamar Sturkie, Sonny Douglas, Mark Dowd, James Bailey, Michael Bailey, and Randy Furtick.
Mr. Dowd was born in Lexington County, a son of the late Lonnie B. and Bessie H. Watts Dowd. He was a retired carpenter.
Survivors include three daughters, Cindy Sandy, and Donna Cox, both of Gaston, and Teri Jackson, of Rowesville; two brothers, Carl Dowd and Mitchell Dowd, both of Gaston; four sisters, Mae Furtick and Ruth Furtick, both of Gaston, Loretta Smith, of Swansea, and Murl Bailey, of Salley; and six grandchildren. He was predeceased by two sisters, Judy Livingston and Pauline Sturkie; and two brothers, Robert "Amos" Dowd and John E. "Bub" Dowd.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m., Monday at Culler-McAlhany Funeral Home in North and other times at the home of his daughter, Cindy D. Sandy, 116 Dowd Road, Gaston.
Memorials may be made to Trinity Baptist Tabernacle.
