Lillian Aliina Thies In Memory ESCONDIDO -- Lillian Aliina Thies, devoted wife and beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and great aunt, died peacefully June 10, 2015 in her home at Pacifica Senior Living in Escondido. Born in Swan River, MN on August 10, 1921 to the late Eino and Hilja Aalto, she was the third of seven children: Helmi (George) Wainio (deceased), Lester Aalto (deceased), Ruth (Bayard) Sharp, Martin (Sylvia) Aalto (deceased), Mildred (John) Lofgren, and Joseph (Karen) Aalto. She lived for 18 years in Swan River, MN, and 33 years in Elgin and Dundee, IL, before moving to Escondido, CA in 1973. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Julius Thies. A graveside service will be held at Riverside National Cemetery on July 21st at 11:30 am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Escondido Christian Center.
