Martha Louise Hannold McCracken, 91, of 21810 State Hwy. 198, Saegertown, passed away Saturday, January 10, 2015, at Crawford County Care Center, Saegertown.

Martha was born in Meadville, on July 3, 1923, a daughter of the late John Peter and Agnes Jane (McDowell) Smallenberger.

On August 6, 1938 Martha married Richard Berton Hannold; he preceded her in death on June 12, 1979. She subsequently married Robert W. McCracken on July 26, 1981; he survives.

She was an active member of Twelve Apostles Lutheran Church, Saegertown, for more than seventy years having come to the church as a child from Bethesda Home. Over the years she was involved in countless church activities and was responsible for hand stitching the church alter paraments. She was also a member of the LALC Church Women's Group.

After 27 years of service, Martha retired in 1981, as the Director of Food Service for Penncrest School District. In her younger years she and her nephew, William Werley owned and operated a bakery on Washington Street where they made pies for the Meadville Market House. She had also been employed by the former Talon, Inc and worked as a self employed seamstress. Martha was very involved with the Girl Scouts of America having served as a Girl Scout Leader and Camp Director of Guys Mills, Camp Director of National Girl Scout Jamboree in Camp Rockwood, MD, and Girl Scout Leader at National Girl Scouts Camp in Colorado.

In addition to her parents and her first husband, Richard, Martha was preceded in death by three sisters Lillie May Lenore Werley, Evelyn Isebell Stoke, Betty Rose Etheridge and a brother James Andrew Smallenberger.

A Memorial Service will be held at Twelve Apostles Lutheran Church, Saegertown, at a later date which will be announced.

Martha will be laid to rest in Greendale Cemetery, West Mead Twp.
