Graveside services for Era Bailey Garner, age 89, of Houston, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 25, 1998 in Dodd City Cemetery under the direction of Wise Funeral Home. David Elkin will officiate.
Mrs. Garner passed away early Monday, June 22, 1998 at Treemont Health Care Center in Houston.
Mrs. Garner was born October 2, 1908 in Gould, Oklahoma, the daughter of James Henry Bailey and Norma Noble Bailey.
She was a 1927 graduate of Altus High School in Altus, Okla.
She married James William Garner February 2, 1928 and he preceded her in death January 13, 1976.
Mrs. Garner had lived in Houston since 1972. She was a homemaker and a memberof the Church of Christ.
She is survived by 2 sons and daughters-in-law, James Bailey Garner and wife, Joyce, and Norman Earl Garner and wife, Shirley, all of Houston; 5 grandchildren, Steven Garner, Gary Garner, Bradley Garner, Lou Anne Chae, and Allison Era Elkin; 5 great grandchildren, Anna Laura Chae, Alexander Carl Chae, Jr., Frances Allison Chae, Bailey Grace Elkin and Emma Corrine Elkin.
The family will receive friends at Wise Funeral Home from 7-8 p.m. Wednesday night and from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday.
