Georgetown Times November 28 1908

Gone to his reward

The early demise of the late Dr. C. Williams Bailey of Georgetown

Buried with religious, Masonic and Soldierly honors

A large number of relatives and sincere friends attend the funeral services.

Quite a large number of deeply sympathetic friends were present at the funeral services of Dr. Bailey at the Episcopal Church on Wednesday afternoon last, at which Rev. Geo. H. Johnston officiated. The Masons were also out in a body, and went through with their burial services at the grave. The Naval Reserves, of which organization the deceased was the surgeon, attended the ceremonies at the church and at the grave, in uniform. Many tears were shed on this sad occasion.

The death of Dr. Bailey comes home to us as a personal loss. He was our trusted family physician, in whom we had every confidence, and whose friendships we valued.

So far as we know, he had never crushed with clumsy feet the flowers of human kindness nor thrust unholy hands into the heart strings of a friend.

Dr. Bailey's work here is done; he has gone where he
"Shall work for an age at a sitting,

And never grow tired at all."

The following gentleman acted a pallbearers:
Active-Messrs. A. McP Hamby, W. W. Munnerlyn, J. C. Tamplet, J. H. Fraser, W. A. James and T. C. Hamby.

Honorary-Messrs J. I. Hazard, H. L. Smith, L. G. Walker, J. R. Sparkman, S. M. Ward, Joseph Schenk, W. D. Morgan, J. J. McKeithen, B. W. Cannon and W. W. Taylor Sr.

Life is full of mysteries-in fact life itself is a mystery. Just a short time ago, the Bailey Residence (if we may term it) was a bee hive of humanity. The grandmothers old Mrs. Williams, and her two daughters, were in the house; Dr. T. P. Bailey and his wife and children were domiciled there, and Prof. Hamby and his boys and girls added to the number-each and all of them with servants, such as nurses, etc. Now they are all scattered, death having claimed a number of them and the large family is today scattered in every direction.
