Whittier - Dona Dale Anderson Thomasson, 79, of Shoal Creek Road, died Saturday, April 5, 2003, at Harris Regional Hospital after a period of declining health.

A native of Buncombe County, she had lived in Jackson County for the past 45 years. she had worked at Smokey Mountain Elementary School as the library assistant. She attended Grace Baptist Church.

She was the last of seven children. Daughter of the late J. Meade and Georgia Maney Anderson, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Thomasson and three sons, Tommy Thomasson, Len and Wayne Ballew.

Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Darlene and Doug Fox of Whittier and Susie and Fred Carver of Bryson City, two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Lola Thomasson and Jack and Jane Thomasson both of Whittier, a special friend, Charles Black, 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Melton-Riddle Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bennett Crisp officiating. Burial will be in Campground Cemetery.
