Burns suffered yesterday morning by Mrs. Adolph J. Gauthier, Sr., 70, Two Rivers, when her clothes caught fire from a kitchen stove caused her death at 5:15 yesterday afternoon at the municipal hospital.
Little hope for recovery was held when she was brought to the hospital at 9:30 yesterday morning after her blazing clothes had been doused with water by her husband. Mrs. Gauthier had been totally blind for the last nine years. She did not notice that her dress had caught fire until she felt pain. She rushed outside screaming for aid. Her husband ripped the blazing clothes from her and poured water over her. She was severely burned from the knees up to the scalp.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon from the Grace Congregational church, Two Rivers, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. T.A. Hawkes officiating. Short services will be held from the Jansky Funeral Home at 1:30. Interment will be in Forest View cemetery.
Mrs. Gauthier, nee Anna Fleeger, was born in Sheboygan Feb. 16, 1867 (sic). On April 16, 1887 she was married to Adolph Gauthier and resided in Two Rivers since that time. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary last year.
