Funeral services were held for Lucie Ferris Askew at 11 a.m. Monday, August 13 at the Tishomingo Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gene Hancock officiating. Interment was at the Tishomingo Cemetery.
Mrs. Askew died Saturday August 11, 1990 at the Reynolds Army Community Hospital in Fort Sill.
She as born November 10, 1931 in Johnston County to Ples and Lela Ferris of Connerville.
She attended Connerville Grade School, Pontotoc High School, Murray State College and East Central University.
She was employed as a school teacher, worked for the Census Bureau, was a car salesperson and a housewife.
She married Arthur Neale Askew March 3, 1951 at the home of Tom and Jan Ferris.
She was a member of the Methodist Church and received a special citation for her work with the Turkish Red Cross from the President of Turkey.
