Ramon was born the son of Phyllis Pratt and Hamel Goldthwait. He passed on at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston Maine.

Ramon graduated from Mechanic Falls High School and served in the Coast Guard during the Korean Conflict.

Ramon married the former Elise P Cloutier on June 8 , 1957. He was employed as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Lewiston for 30 years, retiring in 1989. He was a member of St. Joseph's Church and the church choir, a past president of St. Joseph's PRTA, a member and past commander of the Disabled American Veterans,a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Sportsman's Alliance of Maine and the National Rifle Association. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed collecting stamps, woodworking and his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of Lewiston; three daughters, Mrs. Donald (Pauline) Bussier of Lisbon, Mrs. Donald (Phyllis) Dubois and Mrs. Chris (Norine) Raymond, both of Lewiston; one son, Ernest P. Hamel of Greene; and six grandchilden.

Paul bearers where all co-workers at the Lewiston Post Office. They where as follows; Leo Sirois, Leo Richard, Merrill Lee, David Gemmecke, Galen Stockford and Roland Nadeau.
