Son of S.W.R. Jones

Scott and his twin brother Harrison Jones were the last children of Silas Washington Robinson Jones and Elizabeth Allen. They were also the third set of twins and the only set to reach adulthood.

His siblings were: James Thomas (1837); Joseph Philip (1839); Rachel (Fain) (1841); William Henry (1842); Susannah (1842); John Calvin (1845); Silas Allen (1845); Jesse Berryman (1847); Madison Lafayette (1849); Samuel William (1850); Frances Elizabeth (1852); Emily (1856); Sarah (1858); and Harrison (1861).

He, like many of the Jones family, was a graduate of Willamette University.

He was one of the founders of the Gervais Presbyterian Church.

He was an elder in that church for 49 years. He was a Mason and belonged to the Eastern Star.

He married Clara Jane Hicks on January 5, 1887. According to his obituary in the Gervais Star, he and his wife were the first couple married in that church. They celebrated their 50th anniversary just prior to Scott's death.

Scott and Clara were the parents of four children: Allen McMillan (1898); James Gordon (1900); Verne Robert (1901) and Lois Adelaide (Toomb) (1903).

He farmed just a couple of miles from his parents original homestead.

He is survived by his children, A. McMillan of Longview, Gordon at home, Verne and Adelaide of Salem. A brother, Madison L. Jones of Salem and a sister, Sarah Clarke of Portland.

Nine grandchildren were left to carry on his legacy.
