Aschbrenner, Nina G. ENCINITAS -- Nina G. Aschbrenner, 68, of Encinitas, CA, died at home on December 24, 2013 after a valiant battle with cancer. She was born in Lodi, CA on February 12, 1945 to the late John Sutten and late Harriet (Sutten) Heth. She grew up in Calpella, CA, graduated from Ukiah High School, and moved to San Jose, CA. Nina then moved to Southern California and married the late Gene Aschbrenner. Their marriage was a model for love, kindness, and mutual respect. She enjoyed tennis, bridge, traveling, walking on the beach, dinners at Il Fornaio, volunteering at the Cardiff Library's Book Nook, being an ambassador for the Magdalena Ecke YMCA, and her many, many friends. Her primary focus and love was for her family, and she remained devoted until the end. Nina is survived by her daughter Dina Maxwell of Ithaca, NY; son Alan Maxwell of Encinitas; grandson Dylan Maxwell of Ithaca, NY; sisters Elizabeth (Charles) Vau of Cave Junction, OR and Marian (James) Velder of Liberty, MO; brother Galen (Connie) Sutten of Fairbanks, AK; five nephews, two nieces, 19 great-nieces and nephews, and 10 great- great-nieces and nephews; as well as many Aschbrenner in-laws. A celebration of her life will be on Monday, December 30, at 3:30 p.m. at Moonlight Beach Overlook, C Street, Encinitas, CA 92024. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Friends of the Cardiff- by-the-Sea Library, PO Box 657, Cardiff-by-the Sea, 92007 or the Magdalena Ecke YMCA, 200 Saxony Road, Encinitas, CA 92024. Her love and kindness inspired many.
