James Dempsey Allgood, 64, of 387 S.W. Birch Street, Dallas, died Thursday afternoon, June 10, at his home.
He was born in Dallas, the son of John and Emma Dempsey Allgood on December 24, 1917. He married Myra Starbuck in San Francisco, California, on August 21, 1945. He entered the U.S. Army on September 3, 1940. Serving in the Army during World War II, he received the Purple Heart and later the Oak Leaf Cluster to the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He received an honorable discharge on Jan. 15, 1946 as a Lieutenant Colonel, Infantry Division.
He was employed with the accounting firm of Touche Ross & Co. in Salem as a C.P.A. At the time of his death he was employed with the Rickreall Farm Supply Co. He was a member of the Dallas St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Dallas Rotary Club, Y.W.C.A. and was a past chairman for the Oregon Board of Accountancy.
Surviving are his wife, Myra, of Dallas; one son, James E. S. Allgood of Clovis, New Mexico; two daughters, Alice Herring of Kaneohe, Hawaii, and Elizabeth Allgood of Vallejo, California, and two grandchildren.
Private family services were held at St. Thomas Episcopal Church.
Arrangements by Bollman Funeral Home. Contribution in his memory can be given to the Polk Co. Cancer Society or the William Temple House in care of the funeral home.
