MELVIN HEYROTH

Melvin W. Heyroth, 62, of 2119 Adams St., Two Rivers, widely known in the teaching profession in which he served for nearly 42 years and mathematics instructor at Two Rivers Washington High School since 1929, died Saturday afternoon at Two Rivers Municipal Hospital, where he had been a patient for seven weeks.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Two Rivers, where he had been a trustee for many years. The Rev. T.F. Stern will officiate. Burial will be in Forest View Cemetery, Two Rivers.

Melvin Heyroth was born Nov. 1, 1903, in the Town of Mishicot, a son of the late Louis and Helena Bartels Heyroth. After attending the district school, he was graduated from Mishicot High School, Manitowoc County Teachers College and the University of Wisconsin at Madison. Later he took courses at Whitewater State University.

Mr. Heyroth began teaching in the rural schools in 1924 and five years later in 1929 became mathematics instructor at Washington High School where he had served since. A member of the Wisconsin Education Assn. he was a past president of the Manitowoc County Education Assn., and also of Two Rivers Education Assn. A past president of Lutheran Men's Club of St. John Church, he served for more than 25 years as its business manager. For 18 years he was a trustee of St. John congregation. In 1953 he lost in a closely contested race for the post of county superintendent of schools. Since its creation 11 years ago and until 1962 he was advisor of Washington High School Student Council.

He married the former Mildred Moseler, a registered nurse, in Two Rivers, Aug. 1, 1934, who survives him with three sisters, Mrs. E????? ?ertens and Mrs. Fred (Anna) Skarvoda, of Two Rivers, and Mrs. Glenn (Amanda) Tetzlaff, of Milwaukee; a brother, Arthur of Rt. 1, Mishicot, and his mother-in-law, Mrs. Peter Moseler of Two Rivers.

Friends may call at Deja and Martin Funeral Chapels, Two Rivers, until 10:30 a.m. Tuesday when the casket will be taken to the church where the body will lie in state until the time of services.

Memorials to St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church will be accepted, the family said.
