Ella Eugenia Allmand, 91, passed from this life on Friday, July 24, 2015.
Graveside service: 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in Acton Cemetery.
Memorial service: 2 p.m. Tuesday at Birchman Baptist Church in Fort Worth.
Ella was born Jan. 8, 1924 in Wesson, Copiah County, MS. to Albert Gates and Emma Iva (Dungan) Ratcliff, the last survivor of 6 children. She graduated from Heucks Retreat High School at 17 and moved to Brookhaven, MS., taking a wartime job as a telephone operator.
In 1944, Ella met a young marine, the great love of her life, Wink Allmand. Married on May 25, 1945, they recently celebrated seventy years of happy marriage.
Ella spent the rest of her life creating a home for Wink and her two sons, Steve and David, in several towns and cities in Mississippi, Oklahoma and Texas.
She and Wink retired to the golf course in deCordova in 1984 and she enjoyed taking care of her family, cruising, golf and bridge for 31 years.
Ella is survived by her husband, Wink; sons, Steve and wife, Candy and David and wife, Ina; four grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
