Services for Lacy Jo Layman are 2 p.m., Friday, July 21, 2006 at The Church at Claremore. Pastors Glenn Schaffer and Tommy Williams will officiate. Burial will follow at Owalla Cemetery under the direction of Rice Funeral Service. Friends may visit at the funeral home Thursday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., with family receiving friends from 6˜7. Lacy passed away on Sunday, July 16th, 2006. She was 19.

Layman was born Feb. 27, 1987, at Tulsa to Shelton and Linda Brassfield Layman. She grew up and was educated in Claremore. Following her high school graduation from Claremore Christian School, she continued her education at the Pryor VoTech.

For the past three years Layman worked at Super Video and just recently began working for Debzart Salon & Spa of Tulsa as a certified esthetician. Finding her niche in life, she was excited about beginning her new career. Her relationship with the Lord was very evident in her life. She was involved in the youth group at the Church at Claremore.

Survivors include her parents Shelton and Linda Layman of Claremore; her sister Lauren Craft and husband Tommy of Siloam Springs, Ark., and her brother Jake Layman also of Claremore; her maternal grandparents John Mamie Brassfield of Clarmore; her paternal grandparents Harold and Corrine Layman also Claremore; her aunts and uncles Janet and Lon Seals of Verdigris, Sharon and Paul Palmer of Bradenton, Fla., and David and Beth Layman of Leavenworth, Kan., and 13 cousins.
About 6:50 pm Satuday, Layman, age 19, was driving on a county road two miles north of Claremore, Oklahoma when she appparently failed to yield at an intersection, the patrol said.A pickup driven by Bruce Irwin, 39, of Pryor, Oklahoma, struck Layman's car.Layman's car overturned ejecting her 54 feet. She was flown to Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, where she died about 4 am Sunday.Layman was not wearing a seatbelt.Irwin refused treatment at the scene.Published in The Oklahoman 7/17/2006
