Greene County Woman Passes 107th Birthday

Mrs. Elizabeth Fordyce, who is now an inmate of the County Home, has the honor of being the oldest person in Greene County, having passed her 107th birthday anniversary last March. While there are no records to establish the exact date of her birth there is no doubt but that she is well past the century mark. Mrs. Fordyce's mind has failed with the passing years and she is unable to give the exact date of her birth, but by various means it has been fairly well established. As a young woman she was known to be two years older than another in the same community whose birthdate is established by record and by this means of comparison Mrs. Fordyce's age is 107 years.

Mrs. Fordyce is the widow of Jackson Fordyce, and was born in Dunkard township, near Davistown, where she spent the greater part of her life. She was the mother of several children, who are all deceased. One daughter married D. P. Johnson, former county commissioner and for many years a tipstaff in the Greene county courts.

Despite her extreme age, Mrs. Fordyce is able to go about her room with some aid and walks out occasionally. She is unable to give any reason for her longevity, excepy is is "God's will."
