James P. Crum, 73, of Siler City, N.C. and formerly of Virginia Beach, Va., and Montezuma, Ind., died July 23, 2015. He was born Nov. 2, 1941, in St. Bernice, Ind., to Lawrence and Hazel (Stewart) Crum.
On Sept. 12, 1961, he married Patricia Roberts, who preceded him in death in 2002. He was also preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Colton Crum; one brother, Lawrence Crum; two sisters, Naomi Plog and Evelyn Crum; one sister-in-law, B.J. Plog, Don Roberts, and Bert (Buddy) Roberts.
He was a 1959 graduate of Dana High School in Dana, Ind., where he played the saxophone in the high school band.
He served in the United States Army in Fort Campbell, Ky., and Ethiopia, Africa.
He retired from Eli Lilly Clinton Laboratories in 2002 after 32 years.
He served as a volunteer EMT for the Parke County Ambulance Service for several years and was an avid artist and craftsman. He and his wife, Pat, owned and operated Trigon Ceramics in Montezuma for several years. He was a dedicated family man who took great pride in his family's accomplishments and growth.
