William B. Costello, 72, of 5292 Lincoln Ave. died Friday at Oswego Hospital after a brief illness.
A native of Baldwinsville, Mr. Costello resided most of his life in Mexico. He retired in 1983 as a highway maintenance foreman after 25 years with the New York State Department of Transportation in Mexico. Mr. Costello was a graduate of Mexico Academy and Central School. His wife, Verda, died Aug. 27, 1992.
Mr. Costello was a communicant of St. Mary's Star of the Sea Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus and a trustee of the Mexico Historical Society. An Army veteran, Mr. Costello was a former commander of Edick-Hamlink Post 369, VFW, Mexico.
Surviving are a daughter, Ann Rockrohr of Hopewell Junction; two brothers, James of Oswego and John of Colosse; a sister, Mary Manicoia of Oswego; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Harter Funeral Home and 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Star of the Sea Church. Burial will be in the Mexico Village Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, 5305 Washington Ave.
