Parents were Homer and Emma (Patterson) Potter. Kenneth was married to Bernice Flucky first, and then to a woman named June. He had four children with his first wife; Virginia, Homer Harry, Beverly Junior (who used his father's name Kenneth Karl) and Eugene Kenneth, who was adopted and given the name Charles Robert Winters.

He was originally buried on December 17th, 1938 in Section ELX, Lot 375. During the construction of the Eisenhower Expressway (I-290) during the late 1950's, Kenneth Karl Potter was moved to Section R, Lot 176. His grave is currently unmarked.
