DeWitt Clinton MacDuffie, farmer residing west of Collins, passed away at 8:15 p.m., July 4. The end came at his home and was due to heart trouble and diabetes from which he had suffered for some time.
Mr. MacDuffie, in his earlier years, followed the trade of a carpenter. He was a native of the state of Wisconsin, having been born at Spring Vale, on the 18th of May 1875, and came to Montana in 1906, taking up a homestead in the Judith Basin country. Since 1924 he had made his home in Teton county. Prior to moving to Collins, the family resided near Fairfield. Mr. MacDuffie's second marriage occurred at Choteau, Oct. 7, 1919, his bride being Orcella Hoague.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the Methodist church in this city. Interment was made in Choteau cemetery.
Mr. MacDuffie is survived by his widow, Mrs. Orcella MacDuffie, and three children of a former marriage: Mrs. L.E. Orendorff and N.I. MacDuffie, both of Los Angeles, Calif., and Verl T. MacDuffie of Belt. Survivors also include two sisters, Mrs. W.L. Yale of Duluth, Minn., and Mrs. Charles Tillotson, of Post Falls, Idaho; and two brothers, Roy MacDuffie of Spencer, Iowa, and Howard MacDuffie of Ironwood, Mich. There are also three grandchildren, June Eklund of Choteau, Garth Eklund of Kalispell, and Donald MacDuffie of Belt.
