He died Sunday, Feb. 26, 2006, at Fremont Area Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 17, 1919, in rural Cedar Bluffs to William and Mary (Ballard) Pageler. He lived all his life in the Cedar Bluffs area. He was a 1937 graduate of Cedar Bluffs High School. He was a farmer and raised livestock. He farmed west of Cedar Bluffs for more than 50 years.
He married Rosella M. Wickwire on May 26, 1942, in Cedar Bluffs.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Cedar Bluffs. He served on the cemetery board of St. Mary's Cemetery for many years and served as a 4-H leader for many years. He was a former member of the Saunders County Livestock Feeders Association and a former member of Fraternal Order of Eagles at Wahoo.
Survivors include: his wife; a son, Bill Pageler of Cedar Bluffs; a daughter, LaRhea (and husband, Con) Schnepel of Treynor, Iowa; a sister, Willette Eckert of Cedar Bluffs; two grandsons and a great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, two sisters and an infant brother.
The Rev. Matthew Vandewalle will officiate Thursday's service. A rosary will be said at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Visitation will be from 2:30-5 p.m. Wednesday at Moser Memorial Chapel in Cedar Bluffs and 7-8 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Visitation will continue one hour prior to service time Thursday at the church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery near Cedar Bluffs.
Memorials have been established to St. Mary's Catholic Church, St. Mary's Cemetery and Cedar Bluffs Fire and Rescue."
