She was a long time educator in Albuquerque, and taught English at Eldorado and Highland High schools.
She is survived by her daughter, Valerie K. Parrish; sister-in-law, Nora P. Horak; niece, Marilyn H. Noland; nephew, Dr. John Horak; and many other loving relatives, friends, and former students.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, L. Lamar Parrish, a prominent Albuquerque Attorney; her parents, John and Emma Lee Bratton Thompson; and grandparents, Judge Sam and Eleanor Bratton, and Allen and Mattie Thompson.
Carolyn was a member of First United Methodist Church, and The Iris Society. Carolyn was known for her love of travel with family, gardening, decorating, entertaining, teaching, helping others and her time spent with her adopted rescue dogs. In her spare time she also enjoyed mentoring students in preparation for the ACT and SAT.
