Mrs. Ethel Mae Coleman Ables, 64, of Mount Airy, went home to be with the Lord and join her husband of 45 years, Jimmy Dale Ables, on Saturday June 4, 2011. Mrs. Ables was born May 18, 1947, in Pike County, KY, to the late Frank and Dolly Mayhone Coleman. She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist faith. Left behind to cherish her memory is a daughter, Tammy Ables Bryant of the home and her fiancé, Gary Slate; a granddaughter, Olivia Marie Bryant of the home; and four sisters and brothers-in-law, Loretta Gail and Michael Burnell, Sr., Rosetta and Harley Griffith, Mary Lee McBride, and Arbutus Phillips, all of Mount Airy; and many special dear neighbors, family, and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Ables was preceded in death by four brothers, Kenneth Ray Coleman, Roger Lee Coleman, Frankie Larry Coleman, and Joe Wheeler Coleman; and two sisters, Geraldine McBride and Anna Lou Coleman. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 7, 2011, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Robbie Vance and Brother Johnny Ables officiating. Burial will follow in The Peoples Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 7:00 until 9:00 PM at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be sent to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
