Rebecca is the eighth child born to Benjamin and Betsy (nee Fletcher) Walker. She grew up in the town of Wilton, Maine alongside numerous brothers and a sister. Rebecca married Captain Reuben L. Townes of Wilton. Their marriage intention was filed on 21st May 1843. Rebecca and Reuben had one child together, a son, named William. After Reuben passed away, Rebecca worked as a domestic in Maine and later moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
