Mr. Ahrens, beloved husband of 51 years to Doris Weber Ahrens, passed away on Sunday, August 02, 2015.
Born in Bellmore, NY, he was the son of the late, Frederick C. Ahrens and Elsa Louisa Clara Zerrenthin Ahrens. He was a graduate of Florida Southern College where he received a BS degree.
He had 26 years of combined service with the Navy, US Coast Guard, Army and retiring from South Carolina Army National Guard. Peter was a member of the American Legion Post 193 in Chapin, SC.
He was also a member and Past Master of the Dutch Fork Masonic Lodge and the Patriot Guard Riders. He earned a Silver Beaver Award for the Boy Scouts of America. After retirement he enjoyed volunteering for many organizations through the city and county and was an avid Gamecock fan.
Surviving including his wife, Doris of Columbia; daughter, Suzanne Gulledge (Joseph) of Rock Hill, SC; son, Jon Ahrens (Kelly) of Ladson, SC; four grandchildren, Daniel Gulledge, Katie Gulledge, Jillian Ahrens and Peter Ahrens; sister, Mathilda Trope (Jay) of Westbury, NY; brother, Conrad Ahrens (Sandra) of Cashiers, NC.
