And second, on December 23, 1881 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Darrah Albert Shelby Vaught. Mary and Darrah were blessed with the birth of at least three children during their marriage:

Mary was again left a widow at the age of 44 when her husband Darrah passed away. Mary served as the Vice-President and Leader of the New Orleans Chapter of The United Daughters of the Confederacy and one of the board of director's of the Soldier's Home.
Mary was hit by a vehicle the week before she passed away and died from injuries sustained from that accident according to newspaper articles.
