Death of Old Soldier
Robert L. Cunningham died at his home in the north part of town yesterday evening about 5:30 o'clock. He as eighty-five years old and death came as a result of complication of troubles arrising from old age.

He was a soldier of the civil war and his comrades kindly remembered him at the recent reunion.

The funeral will be held at his home at 417 Bliss street tomorrow afternoon at two o'clock. The soldiers of Siverd Post will have charge of the services.

Robert L. Cunningham, who died yesterday evening was one of the early settlers of Cowley county, having located on a claim ten miles north and four miles east of Winfield October 15, 1876. He lived there until 1890, and then moved to Winfield, where he has since resided.

Mr. Cunningham was born in Green county, Ohio, Eighty-five years ago. When a young man he moved to Indiana and in 1860 he moved to Missouri. He moved to Iowa the next year, and in January 1862, he enlisted in the Union Army as a member of the Co. K. 34th Iowa Infantry, and served until the close of the war. He then returned to Iowa and remained there until he moved to Kansas.

He is survived by a son, J.J. Cunningham, of Beaver township, and a daughter, Mrs. O.M. Wise, Ninnescah township.

The funeral will be conducted by Rev. R.L. George at the house at 517 Bliss street tomorrow afternoon at two o'clock. The G.A.R. will have charge of the services at the grave. Mr. Cunningham was the oldest and last surviving member of a family of nine children.
