Fred received his M.D. degree from the University of Iowa where he also completed his residency. For most of his professional life he practiced general surgery in Galesburg, Illinois, and taught at the Galesburg Cottage Hospital School of Nursing. Fred had a great sense of humor, loved to play golf, and liked to travel with his wife, Bobbie. They had two children, Howard Lloyd Hambrecht, M.D. and Frederick Terry Hambrecht, M.D. Fred died in an automobile accident near Monmouth, IL, years before his time.
