PEORIA - Robert J. Crombie Jr., age 94, passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2017, at his residence in Peoria, IL. Robert was born on October 19, 1923, in Peoria, a son of Robert J. Crombie Sr. and Amelia (Schmitt) Crombie.
He is survived by two children, Lloyd A. Crombie of Washington, IL, and Elizabeth M. Crombie of Colchester, IL.; seven grandchildren, Janelle Lowery of Gaston, SC, Daniel Marlin of Peoria, IL, Amelia Crombie-Christy(Nick Christy) of Bryant, IL, Sean (Nicole) Crombie of San Tan Valley, AZ, Heather Crombie of Macomb, IL, Heidi Crombie of Colchester, IL and Bryon(Esequiel) Cortez-Crombie of Houston, TX; and five great-grandchildren, Jennifer Haire of SC, Haley Crombie of Houston, TX, Collin Christy of Bryant, IL, Grant Christy of Bryant, IL and Sara Christy of Bryant, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Barbara Mae Crombie.
Robert proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He graduated from Bradley University with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting in 1950, and then later worked as a Comptroller for Glazebrook Fire Equipment in Washington, IL, for many years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 661 in Washburn, IL.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 noon Wednesday, November 15, 2017, at Wright & Salmon Mortuary, with burial of ashes following at St. Joseph Cemetery in West Peoria.
