Russell “Dick” Eugene Rhuems, 74, of Pittsburg, passed away at 7:50 a.m., Wednesday, August 5, 2015, at Via Christi Hospital.

He was born June 21, 1941, at rural Pittsburg, KS, the son of Howard M. and Ruth D. (Pryer) Rhuems.

He graduated from College High School in 1959 and lived in Pittsburg his entire life.

Mr. Rhuems served in the United States Air Force from April 4, 1960 to February 3, 1964 when he was honorably discharged. He then enlisted in the Air Force Reserves where he served until April 5, 1966.

On July 16, 1966, he was united in marriage to Jo Carol Wilkerson at Pittsburg, KS. She survives of the home.

Mr. Rhuems was a delivery man for Merchants Delivery for many years.

Later he worked at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant in Parsons, and then for PITSCO.

In addition to his wife, Jo Carol Rhuems, he is survived by a son, Michael E. Rhuems of St. Paul, KS; a daughter, Susan Jennings of Wichita Falls, TX; four brothers, Milton Rhuems, Robert Rhuems, Jim Rhuems and his wife, Dodie, all of Pittsburg, and Warren Rhuems and his wife, Sarajean of Frontenac, KS; two sisters, Ruth Henderickson of Pittsburg and Marilyn Kay Buchanan and her husband, Ron of Houston, TX; seven grandchildren, Haleigh Rhuems, Shanice Jennings, Shaylen Jennings, Brandon Rhuems, Bailey Rhuems, Landry Rhuems, and Madison Rhuems; and 2 great grandchildren, Kailyn Jennings and Keagan Jennings.

He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Orville Rhuems and Dwain Milford Rhuems, Sr.
