In 1804 he came and purchased land in the Town of Scriba, three miles east of Oswego, and about a mile in width from west to east. He was the first Justice of the Peace of the Town of Scriba, and also one of the deacons of the First Baptist Church in Oswego on its organization, and held the office until his death.
