Harold Jackson Buck, 90, died Sunday, Feb. 18, at St. Joseph Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Savannah and was a resident of Liberty County since 1933. He was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church in Richmond Hill. He served during World War II with the U.S. Army in the 101st in New Guinea. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 30 years and was a member of the National Letter Carrier's Association. He was a member of the American Legion Post 184 in Thunderbolt and a member and past president of Liberty County Lions Club. He was the owner of Buck's Outboard Service, and is preceded in death by his wife, Freddie Buck. Surviving are his wife, Julia Buck of Midway; two sons and daughters-in-law, Fred and Mary Buck of Savannah, and Randy and Lynne Buck of Midway; one sister, Margaret B. Beasley of Fleming; four grandchildren, Scott Buck, Carey Fredrich, Sara Buck and Tyler Buck; one great-grandchild, Emma Fredrich; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation was Tuesday at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Midway United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Walker and the Rev. Janet Gallob officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Methodist Church Cemetery at Fleming. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Beasley, James Anderson, Raburn Goodman, Jan Fanning, Joseph Fanning and Gene Ashley. Memorials to the donors favorite charity have been suggested. Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
