ROBERT N. ROBBINS

Rushville - Robert N Robbins, 88, of 832 E U S 52, Rushville, died Friday, June 14, 2002, at Rush Memorial Hospital in Rushville.

He was born Jan. 23, 1914, in Rush County, a son of David Nelson and Lola (Wilhelm) Robbins. He lived the last four years in Rush County after spending most of his life on the family farm in the Orange area of Fayette County. He retired from Philco-Ford in Connersville in 1980 after 25 years as an inspector. During the 1950s and 60s, he was a salesman for Mooman Feeds in Rushville and more recently, he was a sales representative for Watkins Home Products for the last 15 years.

He was a member of Rushville Church of the Nazarene, where he had been a Sunday school teacher. He was also a member of the Woodcarver's Club in Rush and Fayette counties. during the 1980s, he was a CB enthusiast with the handle 'Red Robbin.'

Survivors include five sons, Wayne Robbins of Cambridge City, Marvin Robbins of Richmond, Floyd Robbins and Kenny Robbins, both of Rushville, and Harry Robbins of Indianapolis; a daughter, Mrs. Donald (Mildred 'Midge') Snyder of Connersville; two brothers, Eugene Robbins of Rushville and Donald Robbins of Greensburg; four sisters; Mrs. Howard (Ruth) Fletcher, Mrs. Virgil (Rosemary) Spurgin and Mrs. Edgar (Wanda) Ruble , all of Clarksburg, and Mrs. Marion (Murba) Ruble of Tennessee; and 19 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and a grandson.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a. m. Tuesday at Rushville Church of the Nazarene in Rushville, with the Rev. Michael Dees officiating. Moster and Cox Mortuary in Rushville is in charge of arrangements. Burial will follow in Orange North Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p. m. Monday at the mortuary. The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Rushville Church of the Nazarene
