He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War with the US Marine Corps, a life member of the Clifton Forge Post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Covington American Legion Post #4, a longtime member of the Benjamin Persinger Memorial United Methodist Church and had retired as a letter carrier for the US Postal Service at the Covington Post Office.
Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Miriam Goodwin Anshutz, an aunt and several cousins.
