John Walter Wester Jr., 70, of Manitowoc, passed away on Sunday, August 22, 2021 at his home under the care of Holy Family Memorial Hospice.

He was born on September 24, 1950 to the late John Sr. and Violet (Awe) Wester in Manitowoc. John graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1969 and also attended LTI. Early in John's career he worked at Mirro Aluminum and Weyerhaeuser. Most of his working career was spent at Manitowoc Cranes and after 40 years of service he retired in 2011. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish. John enjoyed being outside fishing or having a campfire and for many years he participated in pool and bowling leagues. He valued spending time with his grandchildren and watching them play different sports.

Survivors include his children, Timothy Wester of Two Rivers and Shelly (Preston) Preston of Two Rivers; grandchildren, Madison Wester, Addison Preston, and Parker Preston; special friend, Mary Mrozinski; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Sr. and Violet Wester. John was also preceded in death by the Mother of his children, Barbara Ann (Knier) Wester in 2014.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 27, 2021 at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home, 628 North Water Street, Manitowoc, with Deacon Alan Boeldt officiating. Visitation for family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Following the service there will be a luncheon held at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center, 620 North Water Street, Manitowoc, located on the south property of the funeral home. Private entombment will be in Knollwood Mausoleum.
