Richard "Dick" Allison, 73 of Pierre died on Thursday, July 20, 2006 at his home in Pierre.
Richard was born February 26, 1933 in Blunt, SD to Lloyd and Fern Allison.
He served in the U.S. Army in Korea.
Richard and his wife Valerie were united in marriage at St. Barnabus Catholic Church in Long Beach, CA. Of this union three children were born, Mark, John and Sandra.
Richard operated a Winchell's Donut Shop in Long Beach, CA. Richard and his family moved to Pierre in 1972 and owned and operated the "Burger Queen Drive Inn" for 10 years. He then worked for the city of Pierre until he went back into the donut business and owned and operated the "World of Donuts" for 10 years, he then sold his business and went to work for the Pierre School System until his retirement.
He was a life long member of the VFW.
Richard is survived by his wife Valerie and three children Mark Allison of Pierre, John and his wife Laurie Allison of Pierre and Sandra (Allison) Wood and her husband Victor of Rapid City, SD; two brothers Melvin Allison of California and Bill Allison of Pierre and one sister-in-law Lori Allison. He is also survived by his grandson Matthew Allison and his mother Deborah Allison of Pierre and grandchildren Joshua, Kelli, Brooke, Ben and Megan Schaap and Erin and Courtney Wood, also many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Jack Allison.
Graveside services at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Blunt.
