CAROLYN SUE OTWELL ALLEN GREENSBORO Carolyn Sue Otwell Allen, 77, passed away Friday, April 18, 2014 at her residence. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday April 21 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church. Mrs. Allen will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Dr. Charles Hutchens will officiate. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall following the interment. Carolyn was born in Guilford County on June 3, 1936 to the late Bascom and Edna Hackett Otwell. She played basketball all four years of high school and graduated from Sumner in 1955. She has been a member of Bethlehem UMC since 1956 where she was a vacation bible school teacher. Carolyn worked for 20 plus years at Southern Life Insurance Company and 15 years at the Guilford County Fire Marshall's Office as an Office Specialist. She always loved going to the beach. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her infant son, Barry Otwell Allen. Left to cherish Mrs. Allen's memories are her husband of 59 years, Marcus "Mark" Allen of Climax; sons, Curtis Grant Allen and wife Sharon of Climax; Gregory Lynn Allen and wife Debbie of Climax; grandchildren, Joshua Marcus, Jacob Charles, Hannah Marie, Zachary Christopher, and Brittaney Elizabeth Allen all of Climax; twin sister, Mary Lou Otwell Craven and husband Howard of Pleasant Garden; sister, Edna Lee Otwell Gibson of Climax; as well as several nieces and nephews.
