Ruth M. Zenor Baker, 81, of West Terre Haute died at 4:4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, 2001, in Terre Haute Regional Hospital. She was a secretary with Bob Baker State Farm Insurance Agency, which she and her husband operated for 35 years in West Terre Haute. She was born May 22, 1920, in Prairie City, to Daniel Zenor and Theresa Miller Zenor. Her husband, Bob Baker whome she married June 22, 1941, died Oct. 1, 1993.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Delores and Bob Cottom of Terre Haute and Diana and Paul Heckelsburg of West Terre Haute; three sons, Ronald Baker of New Hampshire, Wayne Baker of Scottsville, Ky., and Donald Baker of West Terre Haute; 12 grandchildren, Nita, Ronnie, Doug, Mandi, Matt, Logan, Scott, Stephen, Jessica, Verdaina, pam, and Lorna; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She also was preceded in death by a grandson, James Edwards, Jr.; one sister, Ila Fiers; and two brothers, Harold Zenor and Frank Zenor.
She was a lifetime member of the St. Mark United Church of Chirst, where she was a member of the Bible Study Group and president of the Afternoon Fellowship Club. She was a member of the Swinging Mates Square Dancing Club, Sunset Saddle Riding Club, Sugar Grove Women’s Home Economics Club, Senior Friends Club, Turner Busy Bee Travel Club, Carnival Travel Club and Terre Haute Church Women. She also was a volunteer for the Providence Food Pantry in West Terre Haute.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Mark United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Marvin Deerhake officiating. Burial is in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Fitzpatrick-Pearce Funeral Home, and one hour before services Tuesday in the church.
