Son of Tomlinson (Dr.) FORT Sr 1787 – 1859 and Martha Low FANNIN 1804 – 1883

FORT, Capt. Tomlinson "Tom" Co. H, 1GA Regulars. Born in "Milledgeville, GA, April 26, 1839, son of Dr. Tomlinson and Martha Low Fannin Fort, he graduated
from Oglethorpe Univ. in 1857 and began the practice of law in Baldwin Co. Enl. Feb. 12, 1861 and elected Lt. Became Capt. of Co. L in May, 1862, and fought in
VA, being wounded twice at Malvern Hill and once at Second Manassas. He was again wounded on John's Island, SC July 7, 1864. Capt. late 1864 and remained imprisoned until the surrender. His brother John Porter Fort was adjutant of the 1GA. In Oct., 1865 TF opened a law office in Chatt. He served as mayor, 1875-76. Died Dec. 7, 1910 at Res. on Chester St. and buried in Milledgeville, GA. [CWTI
