SHENANDOAH JUNCTION, W.Va. - Stephen Francis Gorman, 79, of Harmony Hill Farm, died Friday, March 29, 2002, at his home.
Born July 26, 1922, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late Stephen Ambrose and Mary Elizabeth O'Hagan Gorman.
His wife, Virginia N. Neilly Gorman, died July 17, 1987.
He was a graduate of St. John's College High School, Washington, D.C.
He retired as the CEO of his family-owned business, Southern Utilities Co. Inc., Washington, D.C., and was also a master electrician.
He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Shepherdstown, W.Va.
He was a member of Knights of Columbus Chapter, Washington; and Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 948, Charles Town, W.Va.
He is survived by:
two daughters,
Mary M. Gorman of Shenandoah Junction, and
Elizabeth Ann Diggs of Olney, Md.;
four sons,
Stephen J. Gorman of Shenandoah Junction,
Robert A. Gorman of Mt. Airy, Md.,
Patrick S. Gorman of Darnstown, Md., and
Michael J. Gorman of Gaithersburg, Md.;
two sisters,
Mary Jane Auld of Charlottesville, Va., and
Rose Ann Thompson of Dallas;
one brother,
Joseph J. Gorman of Shepherdstown;
five grandchildren; and
nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, Charles Town. The Rev. Matthew Rowgh will be celebrant. Burial will be in St. Peter's Catholic Church Cemetery, Harpers Ferry, W.Va.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town, and a Christian wake will be held at 7 p.m.
