In the 1930's she worked as a stenographer for Travelers Insurance. In 1937 she married Jimmie Davis. When they were first married the lived at Catawba river but later moved back to Charlotte. They lived at 401 9th Street which is now a restaurant called Alexander Michaels. At that time the downstairs was a grocery story and the upstairs an apartment. They lived here when their 1st daughter, Betty Jean, was born.
Marianna was deeply involved with Myers Park Baptist when it first formed. She was instrumental in forming the Sunday school classes. Her main "job" was being a housewife which she did until her children were grown.
She had beautiful red hair as a child and also one blue eye and one brown eye.
