Gary Wayne Martin, age 64, of Fulton, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at his home.
He was born on October 24, 1950 in Fulton, Missouri, the son of the late Elmer Martin and the late Ruby (Autenrieth) Martin Land. On March 29, 1997, he was united in marriage to Gidget (Hutchinson) Martin. She survives his passing.
Following graduation from South Callaway High School, Gary proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict where he received the Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Two Bronze Service Stars, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, Bronze Star Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Air Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and Expert Rifle Medal. Upon returning home, Gary worked in construction for various companies.
Gary battled cancer for fifteen years. In that time, through his great faith, he maintained a positive attitude and was often called "Extraordinary" by his doctors and nurses. He was friendly by nature and never met a stranger. He was also extremely generous and would go out of his way to help anyone in need of assistance. He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Pasadena, Texas and Carrington Baptist Church. The times that meant the most to Gary were those spent in the presence of his family, grandchildren, and numerous pets.
His loss will be deeply felt by his family including his wife of eighteen years; son, Michael Moser (Christen) of Auxvasse, Missouri; daughters, Danielle Pointer (Brandon) of Fulton, Missouri. Stephanie Worley (Joshua) of Jefferson City, Missouri and Heather Crespin (Christopher) of Fulton, Missouri; brother, Russell Martin (Karen) of Jefferson City, Missouri; grandchildren, Kaine, Alex, Kiya, Riley, Joshua, Jr., Emmy, Macen, Shawn, Lily, Helen Bell, Kynzy, Lily, and Gunner; great-grandson, Daniel; nephews, Dustin Martin (Alex) of the St. Louis, Missouri area, Clayton Hutchinson of Belleville, Illinois and Colton Hutchinson of Humble, Texas; niece, Amanda Hutchinson of St. Louis, Missouri; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Along with his parents, Gary was preceded in death by grandson, Aaron Moser and nephew, Aaron Martin.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton with Pastor Norman Forman officiating.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial with Full Military Honors will be in Carrington Cemetery.
