John is the eighth child of Peter & Hester (Saffer / Saffron) Lynch Sr. John was born in Harrison County, Virginia now West Virginia, near Buffalo Creek in Union district of that county. He married Eve Post and had several children to that family. After losing his first wife, he remarried to Mariah Campbell and they moved to the land of Lincoln. This very cemetery is near where they lived.
He is indeed the first person to be buried in this Lynch Cemetery. He died at a mid point of his life. Family lore & some records place his birth in 1794. His stone reads Aged 40 yrs. and 13 days. Leaving his children to carry on the Lynch name, some also in this one time early Illinois family cemetery.
