Born to Alexander DeShano & Kathleen Clarey DeShano, my Uncle John was a wonderful man. He and my Aunt Dorothy "Tootie" had both been previously married, but waited to marry each other until they were both retired. They were married on June 10, 1987 in Georgia. They later moved to Daytona Beach, Florida.

They were the ideal couple. In the afternoons, they'd cuddle up on the couch and take a nap together. They acted like newlyweds.

I just loved him. He is dearly, dearly missed. He had no biological children, but considered her children his own.

He served our country in the United States Air Force in World War II.

He was a member of the International Order of the Moose and the Elks Lodge.

His wife, Dorothy, passed away September 2, 2006.

He is survived by three stepsons, Richard, Gregory and James Cole, and two stepdaughters, Candy Leitheim and Catherine Kipfer, all of Michigan; two sisters, Anabelle Kierst, Michigan, and Jeanne Judd, Florida; and seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
