MRS. J. M. SNOW BURIED AT COLLINSVILLE, TEXAS......
The Collinsville, Texas newspaper carried the following notice of the death of a former Smithville woman: Mrs. Georgia Ann Snow, pioneer woman of Collinsville, patient, kind, lovable Christian character, passed peacefully away at her home here Friday at around 8 o'clock a. m. At the time of the passing of this sweet Christian woman, she was surrounded by her children and many of her grand and great grandchildren. All near relatives were able to be near except her daughter, Mrs. Mary Hall of Smithville, Tenn., who was ill. Funeral services were conducted at the Baptist church Saturday afternoon at 2 p. m. by Rev. H. I. Cull, local pastor. Interment was in the Collinsville cemetery, with Naylor Funeral Home in charge. Rev. H. I. Cull, in conducting funeral services at the Baptist church, told of the long and useful life of deceased, how she had reared to maturity a fine family of children and lived to see each of them useful citizens and respected by all who know them, and of her patience and fortitude during her last illness. The casket and rostrum of the church were banked with a gorgeous array of costly flowers, loving tributes of faithful friends. The church was filled to capacity with an overflow assembly on the outside. Mrs. Georgia Ann Moser was born in Smithville, Tenn., Jan. 1, 1852. She was married to the late Col. J. M. Snow Jan. 3, 1896. She was a member of the Baptist church more than 44 years and a faithful Christian worker. Her husband died May 29, 1923. Mrs. Snow was loved and respected by a host of friends in Collinsville and Grayson County. Her many acts of charity, deeds of goodness and her kindly spirit of love and affection, endeared her to all who knew her. The Collinsville Times' staff has known this lovable character almost as long as we can remember. She was one of the best known women we have ever known. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother and a loyal citizen and Christian worker. No finer encomium may be pronounced on any woman. Her life was full to the brim. She may fittingly be compared to that great soldier, Paul, who said, "I have fought a good fight, I have kept the faith". Although she was bedfast nearly a year, she was patient and kind to the very last. Almost the last words she uttered were, "I am all right". Then she passed peacefully into the arms of her maker, like a little child who returns, after much wandering, to the sanctity of its old home. She had lived to see five generations. There are more than fifty grandchildren, more than sixty great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Era Hughes, Ira Hughes, Willie Walker, Bryan Walker, Fred Green and Hershel Vaughn. Flower girls included Mrs. N. L. Stephenson, Mrs. J. R. Ivy, Mrs. Luther Pearson, Mrs. C. F. Goodman, Miss Minnie Mitchell, Miss Inez Mayfield, Miss Lillie May Moncief, Miss Anna Cobler and Mrs. Beryl Pearson. Survivors are one brother, T. F. Moser, Nashville, Tenn., one sister, Mrs. Mary Vickers, Smithville, Tenn., eight children; Mrs. Elizabeth Shores, Howard S. Snow, Matt Lee Snow and Mrs. Grover Walker, all of Collinsville; Hiram Snow of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Mrs. T. B. Webb of Smithville, Tenn., Mrs. Mary Hall of Smithville, Tenn., and Alonzo Snow of Fort Worth.
