Florence M. Bursek, age 91, a resident of 1113 South 26th Street, Manitowoc, entered into eternal life on Monday, October 17, 2011 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center in Manitowoc.

Florence was born on October 7, 1920 in the town of Newton to the late Joseph and Veronica Marenda Schultz. On June 7, 1943, Florence married Arthur J. Bursek at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Manitowoc. She was employed with the National Tinsel Company, Mirro Aluminum, Woodrow Wilson Junior High School, and then retired from Lincoln High School in 1985. Florence enjoyed spending her time knitting and making blankets for her family and friends, gardening, cooking, baking, and being with her family. Florence was a member of St. Francis of Assisi in Manitowoc, St. Clare Society, Daughters of Isabella, VFW Otto Oas Auxiliary Post 659, and the Manitowoc Senior Center.

Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Arthur; two daughters: Lynn (Fred) Reese, Colorado Springs, CO; and Lori L. Bursek, Manitowoc; two grandchildren: Ursula Reese and DeRon Reese; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Florence was preceded in death by an infant son, James Bursek; four brothers, and five sisters.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Friday, October 21, 2011 at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home, N. 11th and St. Clair streets, Manitowoc from 5 pm until 8 pm. The Daughters of Isabella will hold a prayer service at 7:20 pm which will be followed by a prayer service led by Deacon Paul Kieffer at 7:30 pm. The visitation will continue on Saturday at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall from 9 am until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am. The Rev. Daniel Felton will officiate with entombment to follow at Calvary Mausoleum.
