Russian General, married to Natalie Marie Elisabeth von Benkendorff.
He was buried in a vault in Section II. The section was secularized and the New Grassi museum was built on it. The inscription of his gravestone was as follows:
Hier ruht der kaiserliche Russ. General-Leutnant v. Schewitsch, geblieben den 4/16. October 1813 bei der großen Völkerschlacht bei Leipzig. Gewidmet von seiner Gemahlin geb. Benkendorf

Aux manes de Jean de Schewitsch, Lieutenant-Genéral des Armées d. S. M. L'empereur de toutes les Russies, mort au champ d'honneur le 4/16. Oct. 1813 à la bataille de Leipsick, ce monument lui fut érigé par son épouse Marie de Schewitsch .

He and Kudachev where exhumed on July 10th, 1867 and reburied on New St John's cemetery. Today they rest at the Russian Memorial church.
